Критикесса пишет какая раньше была оскорбительная и мизогиничная научная фантастика:

"In that wild west era, plots could go anywhere or nowhere. A typical plot development, in Philip K Dick's Clans of the Alphane Moon, has a hero crushed by divorce and failure, contemplating suicide in his crappy apartment. At the last moment, he's interrupted by his neighbour, a telepathic slime mould. Having rudely flowed under the door, it says, "I couldn't help overhearing …" Then it offers the man a job and says it will find him a replacement wife. Off it goes, and soon a teenage girl arrives at the door. She is completely content to be fixed up with a much-older suicidal loser by an alien slime mould. Her breasts are exhaustively described.

This takes three pages, and is not buoyed by any particular grace or style. It's ridiculous; it's offensive. And it has an effect you simply cannot produce with a book that is well written.

Authors also did not feel constrained to create sympathetic characters. Protagonists often despised the human race, whether or not they belonged to it. Fans might be rooting for a hero, only to have him rape a girl because she hurt his feelings, as in The Stars My Destination by Alfred Bester. James Tiptree Jr.'s Love Is the Plan The Plan Is Death is told from the point of view of an insectoid alien besotted with a larva – ingeniously combining gross bugs and paedophilia. Here is a typical passage:

"Now I feel my special hands, my tender hands I always carry hidden – now they come swelling out, come pushing toward my head! What? What?
My secret hands begin to knead and roll the stuff that's dripping from my jaws.
Ah, that arouses you too, my redling, doesn't it?""

Сейчас, слава богу, добавляет она НФ стала респектабельной литературой (считай скатилась) и более никаких нарушений общественного вкуса:
"The twisted misogyny is gone, and with it the bracing misanthropy. The cool ideas are still there, but a certain anarchic power has been lost."

Я всего Дика читал, включая сборники разрозненных рассказов (прям мякотные, и была экранизация части их, как и фильмы большие, перекуроченная от оригинала); Дик разработал в этом произведении общество из людей, пораженных ярко выраженными психопатологиями (пары, шизы - там названия в открытую намекают). Вообще насрать было на тинейдж-жен - произведение НЕ ПРО ЭТО; даже не помню, как сиськи описаны, а критикесса походу смакует. Бинокуляры заточены.

Так он же Герой. То есть сверхчеловек, высший человек. Для любого высшего человека остальные лишь средства достижения целей. Это правильная книга для юношества же.

Думаю если дать ей почитать цикл Алистера Рейнольдса с космооперой в мире, где аугментаторы себя в унисекс превратили, она там тоже чего-то такое противное вкусу найдет, но скорее вся эта мизогиния исчезла, потому что сюжеты зачина жанра не сработают в среде за пределами пубертата. Это как про Конана-варвара сейчас читать - а между прочим, его автор даже в годы Великой Депрессии был миллионер, люди зачитывались его рассказами (правда, он покончил с собой, но не по причине безденежья).

Да, у него сепарация не произошла. Бедолага вообще, мог б за счёт своей писанины жить и жить, пока другие умирали от голода - знаменитое фото migrant mother как раз 1936 года.
