Трамп с самого начала объявил этих людей врагами, и их
сотрудничеству с Китаем препятствовал, потому что считал,

Не думаю, что Трамп их прямой агент, но он полезный идиот -- пользу мы сейчас видим, а идиотизм был виден всегда. Т.е. вариант, при котором он остается еще на 4 года, им слегка предпочтительнее. Кроме того, он полный невменяемый ебанат, поэтому дразнить его незачем (а Байден нормальный, поэтому спокойно подождет). Когда выяснилось, что да, ему пиздец, вот тогда и поздравили.

СЖВ на кампусах страшно популярны, если че. Т.е. он их не расплодил, он их не задавил ("сделал никак"). Зря конечно, но он не гений человечества, фигли. Настоящую вирулентность, впрочем, они приобрели при Трампе (который, естественно, тоже пальцем об палец не ударил, чтобы их задавить).

Обама виноват в том, что в 2014 путлера сильно недооценил -- он, справедливо, считал его мелкой региональной недотыкомкой, и не хотел ради него отвлекаться от важных вещей (типа Китая), но не понимал, что даже от мелкой региональной недотыкомки может быть ощутимый глобальный вред. Т.е. он жизнь путлеру основательно попортил, и проблему отчасти купировал, но давить его насмерть не стал. Правильно это было или нет, с точки зрения американских интересов, будущее покажет. С нашей-то точки зрения понятно, что нет. Ну и Трампу путлер в итоге сильно помог, т.е. с этой точки зрения тоже наверно нет. Но Трампа и прочее такое же (брекзит, Корбина) в 14м году очень трудно было предсказать.

Резюме: вел себя как нормальный американский президент, чуть лучше среднего. Ошибался тоже как нормальный американский президент.

Я в разном качестве, от студента до постдока до сотрудника,
пребывал в университетах (Ohio State и Rice) в сумме 19 лет,
ни с какими sjw не сталкивался при том что OSU где-то третий
по размеру кампус в Америке. Учитывая длительность и разнообразие
мест и времен я считаю highly unlikely что мне просто везло.

opportunities in China while his father was vice
president. Here are some key facts:

1. Joe Biden met with Hunter’s Chinese partners days
before they established a new investment firm.

In December 2013, Hunter landed in Beijing aboard Air Force Two, accompanying his father on an official visit to China. Less than two weeks later, Hunter’s company, Rosemont Seneca, became a partner in a new investment company backed by the state-owned Bank of China.

Christening the new firm Bohai Harvest RST (BHR), the partners set out to raise $1 billion for the new fund.

Representatives of the Biden family have denied any
connection between the vice president’s visit and Hunter’s
business. However, a BHR representative told The New
Yorker earlier this year that Hunter used the opportunity
to introduce his father to Chinese private equity
executive Jonathan Li, who became CEO of BHR after the
deal’s conclusion.

2. BHR is a multibillion-dollar enterprise.

Exceeding their initial fundraising goal, the partners at BHR raised their target to $1.5 billion for the new fund. The company’s website now brags that it manages “over RMB 15 billion” in assets — the equivalent of about $2.1 billion in today’s dollars.

Under the terms of the deal, BHR, in which Hunter’s firm
held an equity stake, would be a lead investor in the
fund. Other investors include China Development Bank and
China’s social security fund.

3. Hunter and his partners had prominent roles within the company.

Despite his relative lack of private equity experience, Hunter landed a prominent role with the new company. Under the terms of the original deal, Rosemont Seneca, Hunter’s firm, shared a 30% stake in BHR with the Thornton Group, which was run by James Bulger, the son of longtime Massachusetts state Senate President Billy Bulger. Hunter and Bulger joined the board, along with Devon Archer, Hunter’s longtime business partner. Archer would also serve as vice chairman of the fund’s investment committee.

The value of these partnerships to BHR is clear. Its own website boasts: “BHR, with its unique mixed ownership, combines the resources and platforms of China’s largest financial institutions … and the networks and know-how of our U.S.-based investment fund and advisory firm shareholders.”

Hunter Biden claimed to the New Yorker that he and his
partners have not seen any money from the BHR deal. But
even if true, the potential payouts are significant.

4. BHR represented a unique investment opportunity.

BHR’s relationships weren’t the only unique thing about
the company. Rosemont Seneca was getting a piece of
something that no other Western firm had: a private equity
fund inside the recently established Shanghai Free-Trade
Zone, with a focus on international acquisitions. With the
backing of the state-owned Bank of China, one of the
country’s “big four” financial institutions, BHR had
access to the types of deals that most Western firms only
dreamed of, including IPOs of state-owned companies.

5. BHR invested in strategically sensitive assets in both
China and the United States.

In December 2014, BHR became an “anchor investor” in the
IPO of China General Nuclear Power Company (CGN), a
state-owned nuclear company involved in the development of
nuclear reactors. Not only is CGN a strategically
important company in China, it was also facing legal
scrutiny in the United States. In 2016, CGN was charged
with espionage by the Justice Department for stealing US
nuclear secrets.

As a “cross-border” investment fund, Bohai Harvest was interested in making deals outside of China. In 2015, BHR acquired Henniges Automotive, a Michigan-based producer of vibration-dampening equipment, alongside Chinese military contractor Aviation Industry Corp. of China (AVIC). Given the military applications of Henniges’ technology, the deal required federal approval. Like CGN, AVIC was suspected of stealing US technology for its purposes.

Not long after the Henniges deal closed, AVIC debuted its new J-20 fighter — incorporating designs allegedly stolen from the US’ F-35 program.

6. It wasn’t an isolated incident.

In 2015, a state-backed real estate conglomerate acquired a controlling stake in Rosemont Realty, a sister company of Rosemont Seneca where Hunter served as an advisor. As part of the deal, the Chinese promised $3 billion for commercial office property acquisitions in the US — a major windfall for the company.

It wouldn’t be Hunter’s last episode with Chinese capital. In May 2017, he met with Ye Jianming, chairman of Chinese energy company CEFC, to discuss investment opportunities in the US. After the meeting, Ye sent a 2.8-carat diamond to Hunter along with a “thank you” card. When, six months later, a CEFC executive was arrested in New York on unrelated bribery charges, his first phone call was to Hunter’s uncle, James Biden. James told the New York Times that “he believed it [the call] had been meant for Hunter” and that “he had passed on his nephew’s contact information.”

Ye, now accused of bribing a Communist Party official, has
since been detained in his native China.

А ты какую лексику предпочитаешь? 80 лет назад был интернационал, а не транснационал. Единственная критическая сила - антиглобалисты - была сначала прикормлена, а потом через прикорм поставлена под полный контроль, и используется в зависимости от ситуации то как пугало, то как посмешище, через финансирование фриков и отморозков соответственно. А когда в ней теряется необходимость (что случилось в 2020), следует полное снятие с довольствия, а поскольку рулят там буржуазные мажоры (сюрприз), то никаких иных навыков, кроме сидения на подсосе и грантах, у них нет, банки грабить не приучены, так что внезапно оказывается что единственный как бы оппозиционный голос полностью по факту зависит от капитала (пресловутая "соросятня"), и никаких возражений вообще ни у кого нет. Why is Joe Biden so warm toward China?

Last week, Biden raised eyebrows when he shrugged off concerns over the China threat. “Come on, man,” Biden said. “I mean, you know, they’re not bad folks, folks. But guess what, they’re not competition for us.”

Perhaps Biden’s insouciant attitude toward the Chinese government has to do with the fact that his family does not consider them competitors but business partners.

In 2013, then-Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter
Biden flew aboard Air Force Two to China. Less than two
weeks later, Hunter Biden’s firm inked a $1 billion
private equity deal with a subsidiary of the Chinese
government’s Bank of China. The deal was later expanded to
$1.5 billion. In short, the Chinese government funded a
business that it co-owned along with the son of a sitting
vice president.

If it sounds shocking that a vice president would shape US-China policy as his son — who has scant experience in private equity — clinched a coveted billion-dollar deal with an arm of the Chinese government, that’s because it is.

Until the publication of my book, “Secret Empires,” no one knew the deal took place. Indeed, it took me and a team of seasoned investigators nearly two years to unearth and report the facts.

Without the aid of subpoena power, here’s what we know. The businesses of Hunter Biden and his partners created a series of LLCs involved in multibillion-dollar private equity deals with companies owned by the Chinese government.

The centerpiece of these deals is Rosemont Seneca
Partners, an investment firm controlled by Hunter Biden
and his associates: Chris Heinz, who is John Kerry’s
stepson, and Heinz’s longtime associate Devon Archer. The
trio founded Rosemont Seneca in 2009 and quickly began
making deals through a series of overlapping entities
under the Rosemont name.

Less than a year after opening Rosemont Seneca’s doors,
Hunter Biden and Archer were in China meeting with top
Chinese officials. To assist in their new venture, they
partnered with a Massachusetts-based consultancy called
the Thornton Group, headed by James Bulger, son of former
Massachusetts state Sen. Billy Bulger. James Bulger has
the dubious honor of being named after his uncle, the
notorious mob hitman James “Whitey” Bulger.

The Thornton Group’s account of the meeting on their Chinese-language Web site is telling: Chinese executives “extended their warm welcome” to the “Thornton Group, with its US partner Rosemont Seneca chairman Hunter Biden (second son of the now Vice President Joe Biden).”

The purpose of the meetings was to “explore the possibility of commercial cooperation and opportunity.” Curiously, details about the meeting did not appear on their English-language Web site.

The timing of this meeting was also notable. It occurred just hours before Hunter Biden’s father, the vice president, met with Chinese President Hu Jintao in Washington as part of the Nuclear Security Summit.

Twelve days after Hunter stepped off Air Force Two in Beijing, his company signed a historic deal with the Bank of China, the state-owned financial behemoth often used as a tool of the Chinese government. The Bank of China had created a first-of-its-kind investment fund called Bohai Harvest RST (BHR). According to BHR, one of its founding partners was none other than Rosemont Seneca Partners LLC.

It was an unprecedented arrangement: the government of one of America’s fiercest competitors going into business with the son of one of America’s most powerful decisionmakers.

Chris Heinz claims neither he nor Rosemont Seneca Partners, the firm he had part ownership of, had any role in the deal with Bohai Harvest. Nonetheless, Biden, Archer and the Rosemont name became increasingly involved with China. Archer became the vice chairman of Bohai Harvest, helping oversee some of the fund’s investments.

Troublingly, some of those investments had major implications for national security.

In December 2014, BHR became an “anchor investor” in the
IPO of China General Nuclear Power Corp. (CGN), a
state-owned energy company involved in the construction of
nuclear reactors. In April 2016, the US Justice Department
would charge CGN with stealing nuclear secrets from the
United States — actions prosecutors said could cause
“significant damage to our national security.”

Of particular interest to CGN were sensitive, American-made components that, according to experts, resembled components used by the US on its nuclear submarines.

That Hunter Biden had no experience in China, and little in private equity, didn’t dissuade the Chinese government from giving his company a business opportunity in place of established global financial brands like Morgan Stanley or Goldman Sachs. In fact, the Chinese government wasn’t done funding deals with Hunter Biden.

Also in December 2014, a Chinese state-backed conglomerate called Gemini Investments Limited was negotiating and sealing deals with Hunter Biden’s Rosemont on several fronts. That month, it made a $34 million investment into a fund managed by Rosemont.

The following August, Rosemont Realty, another sister company of Rosemont Seneca, announced that Gemini Investments was buying a 75 percent stake in the company. The terms of the deal included a $3 billion commitment from the Chinese, who were eager to purchase new US properties. Shortly after the sale, Rosemont Realty was rechristened Gemini Rosemont.

Chinese executives lauded the deal.

Joe Biden Is China’s Choice for President

The Democratic Party has always been weak on national
security when it comes to China. But some credit is due
when it comes to China’s atrocious human-rights record and
its theft of American jobs. For a generation, prominent
Democrats loudly criticized Beijing on these fronts, well
before Donald Trump helped form a new national consensus
on China. Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi have been
longstanding China trade hawks, for instance. Even a
socialist like Bernie Sanders has been a reliable critic.

And Joe Biden? Well, he’s on China’s side — not yours.

Despite the occasional box-checking, wishy-washy comment
slapping Beijing on the wrist for the worst of its abuses,
the reality is that the former vice president’s support of
the People’s Republic of China is deep and
longstanding. In the critical fight over whether to grant
most-favored-nation trade status and World Trade
Organization membership to China in the 1990s — a fight in
which, again, many of his party’s leaders in Congress were
on the right side — Biden carefully shepherded China
through the process from his powerful perch as the senior
Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations
Committee. Wherever a brake might have been applied — by
placing human-rights or labor conditions on
most-favored-nation status, for example — Biden voted the
measures down and lobbied other senators for
Beijing. Unfortunately, China and Biden got their way, and
American workers are still suffering from it.

It should have been a warning on more fronts than one when
President Obama recruited Biden to his ticket to buttress
his credibility on foreign policy; unsurprisingly, there
was no about-face on Beijing. As the Chinese Communist
Party gained strength and Xi Jinping seized absolute
power, Biden continued to push for closer ties and even
more trade. As for American workers? In February 2012, in
friendly remarks with Xi standing next to him, Biden
praised Beijing as a “new partner” that would help to meet
“global challenges,” and said Americans “welcome this
competition. . . . It pushes our companies to develop
better products and services and our government to craft
better policies.” Millions of American jobs were
disappearing as he spoke, and the militarization of the
South China Sea was just around the corner.

While warmer ties with China were devastating American
workers and threatening our national security, they have
been very good for the Biden family. Reporters thought it
unusual when Hunter Biden, Biden’s prodigal son,
accompanied him on a trip to Beijing in 2013. That same
year, Hunter joined the board of a Shanghai-based private
equity firm. In 2017, a few months after his father left
office, he invested a substantial chunk of his own money
in the company. We don’t know what he’s made off the deal,
but I expect Hunter is doing better than laid-off workers
in Arkansas or Delaware. Must be nice.

Not only were the Bidens’ Chinese business contacts known to have ties to the regime; they also may have been clandestine agents.

Understand what’s going on here: The media-Democrat complex is warning you, on the basis of no evidence, that if you don’t close your eyes to the explosive revelations from Hunter Biden’s computers, you will be abetting a Russian intelligence operation; yet it has become increasingly obvious that this is because, if you open your eyes, you may find out that the Bidens were selling themselves to an actual Chinese intelligence operation.

Among the more amazing revelations in the Biden corruption scandal that the media-Democrat complex is blocking voters from seeing is this: The corrupt Chinese businessmen with whom the Bidens were colluding not only had a record of buying political influence, not only were known to have high-level ties to the Chinese Communist Party and the regime, but also were clandestine agents of China — at least, that’s what the FBI and Justice Department seem to have told the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court.

The Bidens were seeking a $40 million liquefied natural gas (LNG) deal with CEFC, a Shanghai-based energy conglomerate that was flying high until early 2018. By then, however, it had become crystal clear to Xi Jinping’s government that the company’s machinations on behalf of the regime had been penetrated by U.S. intelligence and law-enforcement. CEFC formally went bankrupt earlier this year, but that was two years after the regime pulled the plug on its operations – which appear to have been a cover for Chinese intelligence operations.

The Bidens, with former vice president Joe Biden’s son Hunter as the point-man, dealt with CEFC in 2017. They were the beneficiaries of its corrupt practices and were smack in the middle of things when CEFC began to unravel due to American investigations — investigations that Hunter Biden agreed to look into on behalf of his CEFC partners.

CEFC Was China CEFC posed as a private company. Make no mistake, though, CEFC was China. Its meteoric rise would not have been possible otherwise, and its rapid collapse happened because its usefulness as an instrument of the Communist regime’s influence was undermined by American surveillance operations.

CEFC’s precursor company was begun in 2002 by Ye Zianming, an obscure young man who became fabulously wealthy by opaque means. It is not hard to figure out what happened, though: The Communist regime smiled on him. He has acknowledged getting his big break in 2006, when the regime permitted him to acquire assets it had confiscated from a major smuggler. Over the next dozen years, he lived the life of a globe-trotting tycoon. Hunter Biden, in the overstatement that appears to be a family tic, has referred to Ye as not only “my partner” but as “the richest man in the world.” Ye did indeed live large, but it was the Chinese government that let that happen, lavishly backing his venture, while he, in turn, spread China’s influence, particularly by purchasing political connections in America, Europe, and Africa.

From the start, the New York Times has reported, CEFC retained former top officials of the regime and was strongly tied to the Chinese Communist Party, establishing an internal party committee and rearing young officials through the Communist Youth League. Ye himself had been deputy secretary of the China Association for International Friendly Contact (CAIFC). That is the public name for a division of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA), known as the General Political Department’s International Liaison Department — as explained in a comprehensive report by the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee, mainly compiled by Senators Ron Johnson (R., Wis.) and Chuck Grassley (R., Iowa).

Naturally, after Xi Jinping disappeared Ye in early 2018, CAIFC denied both that Ye had been associated with it and that it had anything to do with the PLA. In reality, as the Senate report elaborates, under Ye’s leadership, CEFC conducted extensive joint activities with the PLA’s General Political Department, and even funded a training center for “applied psychological operations and propaganda directed against Taiwan.” As the report concludes, “Ye and his associates had robust relationships with China’s military units, some of which were involved in matters in direct opposition to U.S. policy in the region.”

Designed to promote the Communist regime’s international muscle-flexing, CEFC was a natural instrument of China’s “One Belt, One Road” initiative, which Xi announced in 2013. The Hoover Institution’s Asia scholar, Michael Auslin, explains that OBOR is a form of “debt-trap diplomacy.” Beijing entices foreign governments with billions in infrastructure aid then manipulates them to do its bidding. The Washington Examiner’s Jerry Dunleavy recounts that Ye told Caixin Global, a Chinese media outlet, that CEFC “aim[ed] to serve the state’s strategy.” And serve it he did. Ye, for example, was named a political adviser to a pro-Beijing member of Hong Kong’s Legislative Council, a body China used for years to bring the formerly free zone to heel.

CEFC’s status as a “private business” was camouflage for the spread of China’s tentacles. In its early 2017 heyday, when it began reeling the Bidens in, CEFC was the rare “private” company that was charged with storing part of the regime’s s strategic oil reserve. When Xi visited Prague in March 2017, CEFC was along for the ride, applying to purchase a 50 percent stake in a major European banking giant, the J&T Finance Group, which had inroads not only to the Czech Republic, but Russia, Croatia, and Slovakia, among other places. The deal eventually fizzled because CEFC’s funding seemed too fishy to the Czech central bank. But that was only after, in a nod to Beijing, Ye was formally appointed as an economic policy adviser to the Czech government — the company having become “one of China’s biggest investors in central Europe,” Reuters reported.

And why not? CEFC was backed by a 30-billion-yuan line of credit from the China Development Bank, which is formally controlled by the regime. In September 2017, CEFC was thus permitted to obtain a $9 billion stake of Rosneft, Russia’s state oil giant. Even Vladimir Putin saw the wisdom of receiving a top CEFC executive at the Kremlin, as if he were Xi’s own emissary.

FISA Surveillance United States intelligence agencies clearly took notice. As the Daily Caller’s Chuck Ross reports, our government obtained at least one FISA surveillance warrant that yielded evidence against Chi Ping Patrick Ho, one of CEFC’s heavyweights. The surveillance authorized by the FISA court included electronic eavesdropping as well as physical searching.

As Russiagate and the challenges to investigating it have made painfully clear, FISA surveillance is classified. The government applications and evidentiary showings that lead to it are closely guarded national-security secrets. Even on the rare occasions when evidence derived from FISA surveillance is used in court, as it was in Ho’s eventual prosecution for corruption crimes, the lawyers for the defendant and the trial prosecutors are not informed of the factual basis that predicated the surveillance. The full breadth of the counterintelligence investigation is not revealed publicly. The full range of targets remains secret, and we learn neither how long the monitoring went on nor what specific intelligence-gathering methods were employed.

What we get is just a bare-bones notice, such as the Justice Department provided during Ho’s prosecution, advising that FISA evidence would be offered at the trial. (In the inevitable litigation over admissibility of this evidence, the public is permitted to see only bland legal discussions about the FISA statute and precedents. The underlying, classified facts that triggered the surveillance remain secret.)

The CEFC scenario is a good example of why revelations about counterintelligence investigations are sparse, and why U.S. spy agencies often push against Justice Department use of evidence collected through foreign-intelligence surveillance operations, even to the point of trying to block indictments. Prosecution triggers discovery rules — the production to the defense of relevant information in sensitive government files. Moreover, when it is disclosed — even without providing much detail — that evidence has been collected under FISA, this alerts the foreign power at issue that its operations have been penetrated and monitored by U.S. intelligence agencies. That’s why intelligence agents, even if they stumble upon provable criminal activity, hate prosecutions: Once the FISA hand is tipped, the foreign power takes steps to shut down whatever activities may have been compromised.

To be clear, a FISA warrant would not have been issued, enabling surveillance that yielded evidence against a top CEFC official, unless the FISA court found probable cause of clandestine activity on behalf of a foreign power. We don’t know exactly how many CEFC officials were under surveillance, or who they were, but it emerged at Ho’s trial that the FBI had been monitoring CEFC since at least 2016. Government surveillance resulted in key corruption evidence against Ho, who worked directly for Ye. Indeed, the Times noted that, within days of Ho’s arrest, Ye was interviewed by the FBI.

Hunter Represents ‘the F***ing Spy Chief of China’ Maybe we shouldn’t be surprised, then, that Hunter Biden referred to Ho as “the f***ing spy chief of China,” as I related in a column on Wednesday. Ho is quite the character. He was the home-affairs secretary for the Hong Kong government in the early 2000s. Then, he launched a CEFC-backed non-government organization, the China Energy Fund Committee (“CEFC-NGO”), which was accredited by the United Nations and registered as a charitable entity in the United States. This gave Ho the resources and the cachet to practice CEFC’s highly effective modus operandi: the bribery of influential foreign politicians and government officials, who were then relied on to open doors for CEFC and, derivatively, for China.

At Ho’s criminal trial in the Southern District of New York, prosecutors proved that he used CEFC-NGO as the vehicle for multi-million dollar bribery schemes that roped in the president of Chad and Uganda’s foreign minister. The Justice Department also presented email evidence demonstrating that Ho was asked to “intervene with the Chinese state” so it might arm Chad to fight the Boko Haram jihadist organization. Furthermore, Ho discussed similar possibilities of arming Libya and Qatar, as well has helping Iran move sanctioned money out of China.

Ho was arrested in New York in November 2017. When that happened, the first call he made was to Joe Biden’s brother, Jim — who has a long history of cashing in on his brother’s political influence. Jim Biden says he assumed the call was intended for Joe’s son, Hunter.

That is probably true. After all, in the summer of 2017, months before Ho’s November arrest, Hunter Biden had agreed, at Ye’s request, to represent Ho as a lawyer. As The New Yorker reported in its sympathetic mega-profile of Hunter, Ye explained that he feared — correctly, as it turned out — that Ho was under investigation by U.S. authorities. Hunter, who occasionally dabbles in the practice of law, agreed to try to determine whether and to what extent Ho was in legal jeopardy.

CEFC Reels in the Bidens By then, Ye and CEFC had enticed Hunter and the Biden family with promises of a huge financial score. Ye had been seeking connections with eminences on both sides of the Washington’s political aisle. These feelers eventually landed Ye a May 2017 meeting with Hunter in Miami. They began negotiating a joint venture between CEFC and the Biden family, the $40 million LNG project on Monkey Island in Louisiana — which Hunter, in familiar Bidenesque exaggeration, described in his recorded rant as “a $4 billion deal to build the largest f***ing LNG port in the world,” adding that he’d negotiated the deal at Ye’s “$58 million apartment.”

Ye certainly followed CEFC’s negotiation style in dealing with Hunter. Besides promising astronomical returns for his politically influential partners, Ye followed up the meeting by sending Hunter a thank-you card and a 2.8-carat diamond. Hilariously, Hunter told The New Yorker’s Adam Entous that it never occurred to him that this could be a bribe — “What would they be bribing me for? My dad wasn’t in office.” Leaving aside the fact that Joe Biden was already preparing his 2020 presidential run, Hunter made clear to business partners involved in the CEFC negotiations that Ye was pushing the deal because he wanted to be associated with the Biden family name.

Of course, it is not Hunter Biden who makes that name a valuable commodity.
